Ceylon Cinnamon, scientifically known as Cinamomum Zylanicum is an indigenous perennial crop which is a popular export spice since ancient times. Ceylon Cinnamon has been a highly acclaimed spice in the international arena for centuries and the Arab traders were reported to have introduced the high quality, aromatic Ceylon Cinnamon to the ancient world. Since then the popularity of this sweet-tasting Ceylon spice remains intact up to date.

If the irritation is intense, immediately wash off the cinnamon from the face. However, it is recommended to apply cinnamon once or twice a week and is not suitable for daily application.
The anti- bacterial properties of cinnamon fights acne and pimple caused by bacteria. Honey and powdered cinnamon is good combination to be applied on acne prone face as a face mask. Mix 2 teaspoons of honey with 1 teaspoon of cinnamon and apply on cleansed face to fight acne.
As a fairness treatment, cinnamon can be combined with yoghurt, lemon juice and soy or dairy milk (cow’s or goat milk). Combine ½ teaspoon of cinnamon and 1 teaspoon of soy milk (or dairy milk) powder and make a paste by adding sufficient lemon juice to dissolve soy milk powder and apply the paste on face. Leave on for 15 minutes and wash off.
Cinnamon is rich in anti-oxidants. Hence, this spice can be of effective treatment for signs of aging. Research found that the enzyme found in cinnamon named Cinnamaldehyde helps increase the collagen level in the skin thus delaying the process of skin aging. Cinnamon can be taken as drink to obtain its anti-oxidant properties internally and be applied topically to treat the skin from aging.
Anti-aging Cinnamon face masks can be prepared by combining powdered cinnamon with one or more anti-aging ingredients such as Greek yoghurt, bee honey and powdered green tea.

A homemade cinnamon scrub can be prepared in a few easy steps and using a natural ingredients that provide extra nourishment to the skin. Homemade cinnamon scrub is a cost-effective option as the cinnamon incorporated commercial beauty products are expensive. To prepare a face scrub using cinnamon, combine powdered cinnamon, honey and coconut a tea spoon each and half a tea spoon of unrefined sugar. Mix the ingredients well and apply on cleaned face using upward circular motions. Massage gently for five minutes and wash off with lukewarm water. To enhance the efficacy of this all-natural scrub, a tea spoon of lemon juice can be added.
Powdered cinnamon is an effective treatment to exfoliate and to smoothen the dry and rough feet.
